The day started out chilly with scattered ground fog, slowly warming up,
welcoming lots of new arrivals.

Notable water birds included Gadwall (lots), Ring-necked Duck (FOS),
Northern Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Hooded Merganser, Wood Duck (FOS),
American Coot (FOS), Pied-billed Grebe, and Greater White-fronted Goose
(FOS).

White-crowned and Golden-crowned Sparrows continue to increase in number
(now dozens), several Savannah Sparrows are still around, Lincoln's
Sparrows are now showing in several locations, and a group of chupping Fox
Sparrows (FOS) made their appearance in the east meadow.

For warblers, only a single Common Yellowthroat and a couple of
Orange-crowned Warblers. Both Golden-crowned and Ruby-crowned Kinglets
(FOS) joined the gleaning flocks on Promontory Point. All 3 wren species
were present today, Pacific Wren was FOS, while the number of Marsh Wrens
was the highest this year. Finally, a couple of Evening Grosbeaks flew
over.
