Hi tweets
Yesterday was my birthday , so I thought to find that number of bird species.
Well a few short...about 60..
But some interesting sightings.:
At Tulalip spit, I saw my first and only caspian tern juvenile of summer2012.
Usually there are good numbers, but only saw adults until yesterday this year.
Also, saw a common loon and horned, rednecked and western grebes.
Up at Eide rd. were good numbers of shorebirds. There were 3 together ,RUFF,same one i photographed on tuesday,a pec and another bird slightly larger than the pec that looked like a mini of the RUFF.Dull greenish
Legs, light beige color on chest and belly, unlike the sharp edge of the pec stripes.dark line from the eye back.the RUFF and this bird separated from the pec and raced around freneticly in the reeds at the edge of the pond and flew a couple of times, almost like a Pas de deux.it looked like both had the oval white rump patches.they were too far for pics ,but my inclination is Ruff and Reeve.this was about 12:00-1:00 p.m. I also met other birders, one ,jack Collins was also a birthday boy!
It would be nice if some ruff expert had been there to give insight.

On to Wiley .Best bird was a Sora out on a reed at the edge of the small pond left of the main trail heading west.
Lots of both yellowlegs.
There were numerous Yellow RUMPED warblers at both Eide and Wiley.(some still in bright plumage).
To enhance my count I went up to the freeway by Conway .predictably there were both my "targets". Brewers blackbirds and rock pigeons.
If anyone goes to Eide road and sees these 2 ,it would be great to have another opinion!
Cheers , Maxine Reid
