Made the Sunday morning circuit of Ridgefield NWR "S" drive and despite low
water fall migrants are beginning to push in and through the area - notable
were a dozen SANDHILL CRANES between markers 11-12 and WHITE PELICANS
overhead. With that in mind we decided to check out Sturgeon Lake opposite
RNWR across the Columbia R. in Oregon. At the end of NW Oak Island Rd were
approx 200 SANDHILLS in the stubble fields. By dusk at Sturgeon between
400-500 CRANES had gathered along with 120-150 WHITE PELICANS.
