Hi Tweeters,

The gull in the photo on my website that I thought might have been a
Lesser Black-backed Gull turned out to be a California Gull. At least
in the opinion of one gull expert. Another gull expert said it was "a
Herring or one of the other large gulls". It just shows how difficult
gulls can be.

I think I will take the advice in the last line in that famous poem
"Black wingtips hath the Herring Gull . . .", "I think I'll just go
look for woodpeckers". Sage advice.
