Hey tweets,

I was hoping to catch King County Parasitic Jaegers and Common Terns today, so I took my study materials to the Dash Point Pier and glanced up now and then to see what was floating and flying by. No sign of either of my targets, but the weather was great, so it was time well spent. Bird species included Rhinoceros Auklet, Horned and Western Grebe, Double-crested and Brandt's Cormorants, Bald Eagle, and a smattering of Surf Scoters.

I was there from 2-4 or so, and the tide was well in for most of the visit. I was curious about how the tide may have led to the slim pickings on birds. I've like... just barely figured out how it works with shorebirds, and I think I had come to understand that alcids like it when water's moving... but what about gulls and terns? Do they care...?

Happy birding!
