For anyone who may be interested we are planning doing the Big Sit bird count here on the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge this year. The date is Oct 13 (Saturday). I found only three counts in the Big Sit database for 2011 in Washington last year. So some of you may not be familiar with the program. This is a North America wide program to count birds during migration. The object is to identify as many birds as possible from a fixed point during a single day. There is no fee and folks are invited to stop by for as long or short a period of time as they like.

We are planning on doing it on the McDowell Marsh Environmental Education Trail (MCMEET) by the dam. For more information feel free to contact us at the refuge or check out the link below.
