Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 27. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On September 21 a WOOD THRUSH was seen at Whiskey Springs north of Sisters.
An immature LITTLE BLUE HERON was photographed during the week along Hwy 205
about a mile north of Frenchglen. A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was seen
September 23 at the Deschutes River State Park. Several BROAD-WINGED HAWKS
were recorded during the week at the Bonney Butte Hawkwatch Station east of
Mt. Hood. One passed the Steens Mountain Rim September 22.

A very conspicuous WHTE-FRONTED GOOSE movement passed through Western Oregon
September 25 with smaller numbers of CACKLING GEESE. VAUX?S SWIFT numbers
are now peaking at their roost sites. The heavy SOOTY SHEARWATER movement
along the coast continues. The first MEW GULLS are now being reported.

On September 20 a TROPICAL KINGBIRD was at Port Orford. A BLACK-NECKED STILT
was seen September 20 on the North Spit of Coos Bay. Two LAPLAND LONGSPURS
were at Cascade Head September 22. Four were at Yaquina Bay the next day.
The RUFF near Astoria was seen again September 22 along with a SHARP-TAILED
SANDPIPER.

ON September 21 two SABINE?S GULLS were reported along the Willamette River
in Milwaukie. That day four LAPLAND LONGSPURS were at Baskett Slough NWR
near Salem. Thirteen WHITE PELICANS and 30 GREAT EGRETS were there September
24. Probable GRAY FLYCATCHER was seen September 24 at Ankeny NWR. A flock of
18 REDHEADS were at the Philomath Sewage Ponds September 23. On September 22
a WHITE-FACED IBIS was at Fern Ridge Reservoir. A WHIMBREL, a MARBLED
GODWIT, and a SOLITARY SANDPIPER were there September 25. WHITE-THROATED
SPARROWS were reported during the week from Fern Ridge Reservoir and from
Creswell.
