Tweeters, Sorry for my incomplete post earlier from the field, however wanted to get the word out quickly. Around 1pm today, Steve Pink, Ann Marie Wood and I had a Curlew Sandpiper at Deer Lagoon on South Whidbey Island. It was out in the middle of the Lagoon associating loosely with several roosting Black-bellied Plovers and a couple Western and Least Sandpipers were nearby. What stood out the most to us was the rediculously long, gradually tapering, fine tipped, decurved bill. After about 20 min. the birds scattered as if in danger (although none detected by us) and flew south. By 3pm only a few Black-bellied Plovers had returned and tide was approaching high.
