Hi Bill,?
Thanks for the post! ?I happened to see your message at 4:20pm, so I bolted to my north-facing Wallingford apartment balcony, and sure enough, there was a large kettle of Turkey Vultures overhead! ?I looked for 10 minute and saw 3 large groups, with a few stragglers, pass by overhead - they were finding a thermal overhead, and then peeling off to the south, looking like they were going to skirt the east side of Lake Union. ?I counted carefully by 2s, and I came up with 98! ?I wonder how many I missed earlier in the day.

This past Tuesday afternoon, I also saw 55 Turkey Vultures passing overhead from my balcony (and 1 Red-tailed Hawk, whereas today it was a pure group). ?Consulting eBird, I see that Jim Flynn counted 125 in King County in September of 2006.

Maybe someone in central or south Seattle will spot these birds and count even more!

Good birding,
