What I mean is that everything is relative. I was shocked to flush a Mourning Dove out of the yard when I went outside this morning. This is a fairly heavily wooded neighborhood, definitely not a place for birds of open country (although a Savannah Sparrow visited a feeder once, it disappeared very quickly). I saw a Mourning Dove fly over the house on Nov 6, 1994, and never again for my yard list until today. A surprise is a surprise, whether it's a Ruff at a roadside pond or a Mourning Dove in your Seattle yard.
