Subject: Saturday non-results


As a result of impressive swells generated by the storm headed for the Gulf of Alaska, we turned around yesterday morning before reaching the end of the jetties. We concluded that the time spent on the outer half of the shelf would be brief, unproductive and miserable.

So, Westport Seabirds became Westport Shorebirds for the day. We took a group of 12-15 to Bottle Beach, Hoquaim Sewage Ponds and Ocean Shores. A couple of Pacific Golden-plovers at Hoquaim, and Ocean Shores had merlins and peregrines that helped keep shorebird watching from being productive.
