Here is a great article about being attacked by an owl in Seattle: http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/attacked-by-an-owl/Content?oid=16458585

I don't know about the rabies shots referenced in the article, but there was a director of a museum in Oregon that was scratched by the talons of a Great Horned Owl. He contracted viral encephalitis from the incident. Go to this Seattle Times piece from 1996 describing the sad incident: http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=19960708&slug=2338226

On another matter: our three duck boxes are being used. One has a Wood Duck incubating at least 18 eggs; one has a Hooded Merganser incubating her eggs; and the third has had an egg laid by both species just this morning, but with nobody incubating yet. We have infrared video feeds from two of the boxes.
