April 12th, 2013 Today I was sitting inside, and I heard a peeping noise at my feeders. I went to investigate the sound, because it sounded like a baby bird, and indeed it was a fledgling Chestnut-backed Chickadee fluttering its wings, peeping, opening its mouth, and getting fed by its parent which was smaller than it. This was my first baby bird of the year, presumably part of the nest of Chestnut-backs that always nest in my the wall of my brother's bedroom. It seemed quite early for a baby chickadee, as last year they fledged on May 30th. Has anyone else had an early fledgling?
