Saw one lone Canvasback in one of the ponds south of the interpretive trail at Capitol Lake. We have seen this bird--I assume it is the same one--several times over the past few weeks after all the others had left. Today it was napping on a tree branch/log which was hanging or lying in the water. Also saw two groups of common mergansers, one of eight and one of twenty.
