Hi Tweets,

We satellite-tagged this wonderful falcon five years ago on the coast of
Chile. She just left her "wintering" ground at Putu yesterday. She is
carrying a GPS equipped, solar-powered satellite transmitter that is still
working after all these years (made by Microwave Telemetry in MD).
Pretty sure this is some sort of record.
As many of you know, you can follow her daily movements and/or read about
her on our blog at www.frg.org. Click on Southern Cross Peregrine Project
in blue, select tracking maps, click on Island Girl and scroll down for her
map. You can see where she is every day and zoom in on Google Earth to see
what she was perching, flying or sleeping the day/night before. We usually
get three signals per day, 10 AM, 4PM and 10PM although we never know when
the satellite kicks them down to us.
If all goes well, she will arrive at her nesting area on Baffin Island in
early June.

As always, thank you to Don McCall and Mark Prostor for setting up the
website for all to enjoy. She now has a worldwide following. She has fans
in Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico,
Canada and even some European countries.

And most especially a huge thank you to all of the FRG members that funded
this work so long ago.
Please sit back and enjoy the ride.

Go Island Girl...
