Subject: [Tweeters] Skagit Valley Snow Goose Tracking Web Site
Date: Apr 18 16:21:15 2013
From: Evenson, Joseph R (DFW - Joseph.Evenson at dfw.wa.gov

The WDFW recently transmitted snow geese from the Skagit Valley with satellite transmitters. The project goals are to assess the relationship of the wintering northern Puget Sound population to other Pacific flyway use areas (documenting migration routes, phenology, staging areas, and stopover locations throughout the flyway).

For those interested, the URL for the web site with tracking maps is:
http://www.wildlifetracking.org/?project_id=831

Also, we have deployed neck collars on some of the geese. If you observe collars please report the observations to the BBL:
http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/BBL/bblretrv/

The geese are just now beginning to migrate out of the Skagit-Fraser wintering areas. If you know of people who are in the areas that are identified during the migration who may be interested, please pass the link to the website to them; we would be very interested in any neck collar sightings that they may observe.

Thank You,

-Joe Evenson
