Tweets ? having been in Massachusetts for last Thursday-Sunday, and thereby missing my usual survey as well as the Greater Yellowlegs, Dunlin, and Chipping Sparrow that were seen over the weekend, and since the weather was so nice, I just HAD to go down to the park yesterday morning. Though mostly sunny, it was still somewhat chilly, and not amazingly birdy. That said, I came across quite a few species.

Highlights:

Wood Duck Several landed in a large cottonwood!
Ring-necked Duck About 4; getting late for them
Common Goldeneye One female; late sighting for Marymoor
Cooper?s Hawk Two, one a juvenile
Pileated Woodpecker One heard from boardwalk
N. R.-winged Swallow One over grass soccer fields
Pacific Wren At least 2 singing ? late for Marymoor
HERMIT THRUSH 1-2, with one SINGING.

I didn?t get down to Marymoor until 7:15 yesterday, so I went back today at 6:00 a.m. for a couple of hours:

Mallard First DUCKLINGS of the year
American Pipit 2 in Lot B (where the GRYE and DUNL were)
Western Meadowlark 1 in East Meadow
BREWER?S BLACKBIRD 1 in ballfield across from model airplane field
EVENING GROSBEAK Flying around near mansion ? maybe 5-6

Graham said he had seen a CASSIN?S VIREO as well.

The HERMIT THRUSH was our first sighting since this week a year ago. I believe the BREWER?S BLACKBIRD, EVENING GROSBEAK, and CASSIN?S VIREO were also all new for 2013.

And I?ll be out again tomorrow morning :) I had 60 species Tuesday.
