Made a brief swing through the park this morning to take advantage of the
nice weather. The beautiful sunrise had a posing Bald Eagle sitting on the
swim platform. It occasionally made forays over to the swim beach then back
to its perch. Later, I found a single wing of an American Crow on the
ground in the vicinity. Eagle breakfast?

A Common Loon was a ways off from the boat ramp and a single female Common
Merganser was along the shore.

No collared doves today but there was a Mourning Dove feeding along the N-S
road with a pair of California Quail until an off-leash dog flushed them
all. Also, a Band-tailed Pigeon was finding food in one of the Madronas on
Promontory Point.

Also on the point was a pair of Black-throated Grey Warblers and a Rufous
Hummingbird. Interestingly, an Anna's Hummingbird joined them and seemed to
tolerate the Rufous, but chased one of the warblers away from its flowers.
A Pileated Woodpecker was also on the point and the pair of Belted
Kingfishers remain very active and vocal in Kingfisher Basin.

A Greater Yellowlegs was foraging in the North Lagoon. Two Least Sandpipers
flushed from the west Marsh Ponds, followed immediately by a Wilson's
Snipe.

For the day, 58 species; with LESA, MODO, RUHU and BTGW new, 101 species
for the year.
