Today I birded the entire morning and early afternoon at Discovery
Park. The birding was very good and a nice variety of species were
seen. My best sighting of the day was an AMERICAN KESTREL flying over
the South Meadow near the Utah Pond. I tried to track down where it
may have landed but was unable to relocate it. Also, my first of the
year PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER located in the area behind the Parks
Visitor Center. Some of the birds observed today included:

BRANT - a couple of small flocks along the North Shoreline
HORNED GREBE - a few (in breeding plumage)
OSPREY - a pair flying around the beach area
CASPIAN TERN
MARBLED MURRELET - a pair near the Westpoint Lighthouse
RHINOCEROS AUKLET - a single bird seen
BAND-TAILED PIGEON
AMERICAN KESTREL
MERLIN
PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER
VARIED THRUSH - a few still hanging around
BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER
LINCOLN'S SPARROW - a single bird seen at the north end of the South Meadow
BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD
