I searched without luck for the Lark Sparrow and White Pelican after missing them while at Westport for a pelagic trip. There was the continuing WHITE-THROATED SPARROW and a FOX SPARROW present at the Saint Cloud Recreation Area and a few YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS too. I spread bird seed along the trail about 100' west of the restrooms there and will check again tomorrow. I did refind the earlier reported 2 male RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS at Stevenson and a pair of HARLEQUIN DUCKS at the Little White Salmon Fish Hatchery. There were 8 LEAST SANDPIPERS and a WESTERN KINGBIRD at Doetsch Pond at Skamania Landing where I also had my FOY VAUX'S SWIFTS. At the Bonneville Hot Springs Pond there was a calling VIRGINIA RAIL. I was unable to get any response from the Marsh Wrens at the Red Bluff Road pond in
Stevenson but there were a pair of BUSHTITS feeding in the willows there. Wilson Cady
