Hello Tweeters,

Since it wasn't raining this afternoon, Bill and I decided
to see if we could find the Sage Thrasher that everyone has been reporting
at Magnuson Park. We walked to the area stipulated (where the two paved
paths converge south of the old building at the north end of the park).
There, (at about 2 pm) another birder named Alex already had the Thrasher in
view and waved us over. We had great looks as it ran around on the concrete
and grass. I was struck that I have only seen this bird sitting on
sagebrush in eastern Washington before. Here it reminded me more of a
diminutive Roadrunner as it scurried from place to place on the ground.

The weather was fine, so we continued our walk and the last
noteworthy (for us) bird that we saw was a breeding plumage Red-throated
Grebe in Lake Washington between the float and the boat launch area. I
can't remember having seen this species in Lake Washington before, but
perhaps it's common there.
