Yes, the Austin Purple Martin roost is huge, gargantuan really. I used to
live in Austin and went to the Highland Mall PUMA roost for about 4 years.
I wasn't there for this year's spectacle so can't report on current numbers,
but last year's was one of the largest due to a good breeding year for
PUMAs. At peak, it was estimated at 600,000. I have photos if anyone is
interested.

Martins may group together in huge flocks this time of year, rivaling
Starlings. Austin Texas has been getting several thousand per evening at
trees in a shopping center the last couple of weeks. Spectacle.
