I finally got a good look at the merlins of Wedgwood this evening. I heard loud calls and then saw one, two, and three merlins fly by and land in a tall cedar tree. Shortly after that, a northern flicker made a rapid exit from that tree. After sitting in the tree for a few minutes they flew by again, one, two, and three with more calling.
