Hello All,

Just arrived back home from an epic, or perhaps more accurately stated,
insane journey across the state seeing both the EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE and the
SMITH'S LONGSPUR.

After seeing the pewee, I read Ken Lane's post about the longspur and
decided, in a moment when all rationality left me, to go for it.

I arrived in Ocean Shores at about 6:45pm in a driving rainstorm which, very
fortunately abated quickly. I scoured the area where the longspur had been
seen and had all but given up when at about 7:50 I heard the call and saw
the bird fly by. I was able to sneak up on it and get a short but very
clear look at the bird at point-blank range while it sat on a log. I then
followed it as it flew some distance away where I enjoyed a much longer look
at the longspur as it perched up on another log.

So, yes it is still there!

Now, I sleep!

Cheers and Good Birding!
