Hi Tweets,

Last Saturday I went to Sunrise of Mt. Rainier to try to locate the
White-tailed Ptarmigan reported by many on Tweeter. It was foggy and I did
not find any. A few other birders were there and all were disappointed.

However, I encountered a Mom bear with 2 cubs at close range (I was in the
car, no immediate danger) and a group of 9 mountain goats with several
kids. 3 American Kestrels, a group of about 10 Mountain Chickadees, many
rambunctious chipmunks and the chirping of Pica cheered me up.

I have to go back next year for the Ptarmigans. For now, enjoy the photos
of the bears, goats and Mt. Chickadees:
