Max, That's a Redhead all right. I'd agree that they are rare in western
Washington but reliably found every winter. Last winter, on February 1, I
counted 31 Redheads at the Weyerhaeuser Corporate headquarters pond, the
most I've ever seen in one location in western Washington. I plan to
eventually go looking for them there this winter.

Subject: Red Head Duck--Tacoma
While at DFW boat launch near Camp Murray on American Lake looking for ducks
a couple of days ago I got a shot of one ( photo attached) which seems to be
a Red Head, although in strange plumage.
What do you think it is? Red Heads are said to be only rarely seen here.
