I have not put out marshmallows or cheese for the birds so cannot comment on that but, yes, Townsend's Warblers are very fond of peanut butter. For the last three winters I have had at least one Townsend's Warbler spend the winter, consuming vast quantities of peanut butter. In addition to the Townsend's Warbler, last year I had two Orange-crowned Warblers who were here every day for their helping of peanut butter. I also have had a Ruby-crowned Kinglet--for two years--visiting for its peanut butter fix and, as of yesterday, a Bewick's Wren, which was a real surprise.

The Townsend's Warbler and Ruby-crowned Kinglet watch for me. When I go into the kitchen or dining room or return in the car I can usually find them waiting. Last year and the year prior the warbler would fly up to the kitchen window and, when I came outside with the peanut butter, land on my hand for an early snack. Since this does not happen this year, I assume I now have a different individual.

Both the warbler and the kinglet also visit the hummingbird feeders, much to the hummingbirds' chagrin.
