Hi Tweets,

we had a fun CBC for Tahoma Audubon in Tacoma on Saturday. At 8:30am I
observed a great candidate for an Iceland Gull bathing in the Puyallup
River with Thayer's Gull, Glaucous-winged Gull and Western X
Glaucous-winged Gull Hybrids. The bird was a nonbreeding adult plumage
slightly smaller then the adjacent Thayers with white wing tips. After
noticing the white wing tips, I studied the bird for 5 minutes at 100 feet
with a 40 X spotting scope, no pics, the current made digiscoping too hard.
Small yellow green based bill with red spot on small gonys with no
gonydeal angle. Dark yellow eye with gray/brown smudgy marks around eye
and neck. Light gray mantle, similar or slightly lighter then Thayers
Gull. A photo would be great for confirmation if anyone gets one.

The Red-shoulder Hawk that's been in the area was seen where Milwaukee Way
goes under the 509 overpass. We dipped on relocating the Slaty-backed
Gull. Between 5:30am and 6:30am I heard/observed Western Screech Owl, Barn
Owl and Great Horned Owl at the Hylebos Waterway on the Hylebos Creek
between 4th and 8th Streets east of 54th Ave E, Fife.

Good birding,
