A few years ago there was a problem in a local park with dogs running after
deer in the winter. The stress was obvious. A couple of my students created
a 8x11 poster with a large picture of a dead deer on it with the caption: Is
your dog killing wildlife? At the bottom was a 3 sentence paragraph about
winter survival. They placed 3 of them around the park. Comments from
randomly surveyed dog owners found the posters to be hugely successful.
Total cost of the project was about a dollar. Seems like this could be
done for the snowies. But it will have to be done by one of us, the people
who care.
