On a WOS fieldtrip to the Okanogan today, 02/15/2013, Qinglin Ma, Bob
Schmidt, Barry Brugman and I saw a Milbert's Tortoiseshell (Aglais
milberti), today, 02/15/2013 at the Upper Rocky Reach Dam Overlook in
Chelan Co. Milbert's Tortoiseshell overwinter as adults and sometimes, like
today, when the temperature is relatively mild and sunny, they come out.

Some of our better birds seen on the drive up to Omak from Kirkland were
Gray Jay at Steven's Pass, King Co.; Great Horned Owl at Well's Dam, Chelan
Co.; Canvasback and many Redheads across the Columbia River from the Entiat
City Park, Douglas Co; Barrow's Goldeneye at Lakeside Park in Chelan,
Chelan Co. and Red-necked Grebe on the Columbia River at Upper Rocky Reach
Dam Overlook, Chelan Co. We're looking forward to some great birding in the
next few days here in the Okanogan. Stay tuned . . .
