My wife and I saw a Long-eared Owl at the end of Thomie road near Stanwood on Sunday February 10th at dusk. It was flying along the road there. At first, I thought it might have been a Short-eared Owl, which we'd been seeing all day, but the "ears" were much too long and it had a different shape, so we were very confident in the identification. I know others have seen Barn Owls in that area as well, though we never have. There is an abandoned barn next to the NWR on the Samish Island Road north of Mount Vernon that had a Barn Owl roosting in it a couple of years ago, but hasn't been there the last couple of times we checked. HTH, Jim

P.S. we saw at least four Snowy Owls at dusk on Thome Rd as well.
