Hi Tweets,

a wonderful first day for our WOS field trip to the Okanogan Highlands and
Waterville Plateau.

Highlights:

Great Gray Owl: seen at the Sno-Park south of Havillah for over 5 minutes
by entire party at 6pm in the south east corner of the meadow between the
meadow adjacent to Havillah Road and the Restroom parking lot open area.
We played digital recordings from the rest room parking lot, drove west to
drop down to the middle meadow. Started to play digital recordings again
and Roger Moyer spotted the owl across the meadow in the top of an aspen
tree above the conifer horizon. A large Great Horned Owl size bird with
flat disc face, round head, and slight indent on top of head. Photos taken.

White-winged Crosbills: seen in the town of Conconully in the morning.

250 Common Redpolls: feeding on the grassy ground between sage brush on the
west slope adjacent to pasture along Fancher Road.

500 Bohemian Waxwings: fly catching over the Okanogan River next to the SR
97 bridge just south of McLaughlin Canyon/Janis Road between Riverside and
Tonasket.

The feeders on Nealy, Grange and Hungry-Hollow Road were all active with
nice sightings of Common Redpoll and Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch.
