Not only are the raptors that D Lewis spotted present at Sikes Lake, last
Friday we had a 6 raptor half hour within about a mile of the bridge.
Besides the lone Golden, 6 Bald Eagles of all levels of maturity, at least 4
Redtails (two of whom were courting), and the lone Peregrine (in what I
think was the same tree as described) we added a single female Harrier
cruising low on the hunt, and a single Kestrel.



Not to be ignored, Trumpeter and Tundra Swans, Common and Hooded Mergansers,
both Cackling and Canada Geese and (in a smaller flock near Jubilee Farms)
two Snow Geese among a Canada flock.



It's worth the trip just to view the Golden perched up close. Happy

Good morning



We drove by Sikes Lakes late yesterday. The Golden is still there along
with the usual bald eagles and red-tails. But yesterday they had a new
neighbor - we saw a peregrine falcon. It was sitting on top of a tree
behind the small pond that is next to the house along the river. The tree
is a fairly good distance from the road and not easy to see but the photo I
took clearly shows a peregrine.



The farmers are starting to work in the fields so as long as the weather is
fairly good the birds may be a little spooked. Watching from a distance may
be a good idea if we want to keep the birds around.
