Today, Susan and I made a short drive around in the Vancouver Lake Lowlands of Clark County. At the Vancouver Lake Flushing Channel we found one RED-BREASTED MERGANSER with the more expected Common Mergansers. Most of the 45 GREAT EGRETS we saw were on Shillapoo Lake, where there were also a few TUNDRA SWANS. Along the road near the entrance to Frenchman's Bar Park there was a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW in a flock of Golden-crowned Sparrows. At the Post Office lake parking lot at the end of Lower River Road, one ROSS'S GOOSE was in a large flock of Cackling Geese. We tallied about 550 SANDHILL CRANES during our two hour visit.
