My wife and I have both been battling a nasty virus off and on for awhile. One consequence is that we sleep later than usual. This morning we slept late enough that the sun was shining on the bedroom wall as I awoke. Cast upon the wall was the shadow of an Anna's Hummingbird as it hovered outside our glass door. The shadow in some ways seemed better than the bird itself. I had experienced the shadow of Nature's smile.
