Hi Tweeters,

This afternoon there was a male CANVASBACK among the house boats at the
west end of the Willow Grove marina - a bit west of where the loop road
doubles back on itself. Where oh where was this bird a few days ago when I
was trying to add it to my Cowlitz big year? Birding is always great fun
and you never know what will pop up next. Also present in the area were 2
RED-THROATED LOONS, but the numbers of this species were way down from the
17 reported on the Cowlitz/Columbia CBC on January 1st. That would be from
Willow Grove to just north of Kalama on both sides of the Columbia and
included 5 from unaccessable industrial property.
