Hi Birders,

Alan Richards and I had a nippy but productive day (1/12/13) in multiple

counties. Starting in Pateros at dawn we went up the Methow river as far as

Burma Road. From the Burma Road bridge we found an AMERICAN DIPPER enjoying

it's dip at 3*F. Also in Okanogan County we had both TUNDRA & TRUMPETER

SWANS near the mouth of the Okanogan River.

Up Central Ferry Road in Douglas County we had great looks at a male

BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER (thanks to Meredith for reporting these) and a

CLARK'S NUTCRACKER at the turn off to the Packwood Cemetery. A MERLIN

stopped briefly in a treetop in Bridgeport. On SR 17 a bit east Bridgeport

Hill Road there was a GOLDEN EAGLE.

Moving on to Grant County in mid-afternoon we found 2 PINE GROSBEAKS at the

intersection of Stevens Ave. & Sunset Drive in Electic City. We then used

some of the road grid to the southeast of Electric City to get to Wilbur

and enjoyed many flocks of GRAY PARTRIDGE & RING-NECKED PHEASANTS in both

Grant and Lincoln Counties.
