I observed two SE Owls today (1/15/13), between 5:10 and 5:35 PM, at the
location described (see below for both directions and cautions about local
situation).

These owls appeared and vocalized on both sides of the road and county line.

At about 5PM tonight after I had returned to Fitzgerald Road, on Mt.
Pleasant,
Skamania County, I saw a SHORT-EARED OWL working the fields on both sides of
the county line. On the way back out I passed the owl or another sitting on a
fence post. If you search for this bird avoid disturbing the landowners by not
going beyond the ninety degree turn on this short dead end road that connects
to Marble Road. This road is basically a very long driveway and the best
viewing area is from the turnaround at the corner or the high spot about
halfway back down to Marble Road. Thank you MaryFrances Mathis for alerting me
to this new addition to my county list.
