The Red-flanked Bluetail was seen again this morning from 830-930am at the
previously mentioned spot. I left from Seattle with several others at 5am,
and we arrived shortly after dawn and located the bird within 2 minutes.

The Bluetail was pretty much the only small bird flitting around on the
ground, aside from a few Golden-crowned Kinglets. It struck me that the
bird is very similar in size and shape to a European Robin. The red
flanks, blue tail, pale cream throat/malar stripe, eye ring, and behavior
are very distinctive.

The bird moved around a lot, and I would encourage people to stay in one
spot and refrain from pursuing the bird too much. It was our experience
that the bird would circle around just as quickly as we could follow it,
and it wouldn't allow anyone to get closer than about 100 ft. I got some
great iphone digi-scoped shots and if anyone wants to see them, send me an
email. Good luck everyone!
