I have been seeing a male Pileated Woodpecker in the north end of the Arboretum almost daily for the last month. Having photographed him repeatedly I think I have figured out a way to uniquely identify him. I would love to hear whether you think this method of identification is truly unique and reliable. Have you seen similar mark(s) on other PWs? Do you see other information in the photos that I have overlooked? If you would like to help, here is the link:
