Hello Tweeters,

????? I led a field trip for Seattle Audubon on Saturday to Boundary Bay and George C Reifel Bird Sanctuary. We started the day at the 72 st parking area to Boundary Bay. We counted 21 Snowy Owls, most were on the buildings near the greenhouses to the west. We also had 7 Short-eared Owls and?about the same number of?N Harriers flying around. We also?had one N Shrike, one Rough-legged Hawk, one Merlin?and our count for the day, around 100 Bald Eagles.

????? We headed over to Reifel next. We found two N Saw-whet Owls and two Great Horned Owls along the trail.?3 Black-crowned Night-herons were?sleeping in the trees. There were 9 Sandhill Cranes to meet us in the parking lot. It is always fun to see the ducks up close. The N Pintails and Wood Ducks joined the begging Mallards giving us some nice photo opps. Members of the field trip enjoyed feeding the Chickadees on their out stretched hands. Reifel is always a good place to visit.
