Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Wednesday July 3. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

A DICKCISSEL was seen July 2 at the Royal Avenue gate of Fern Ridge
Reservoir. A BREWER?S SPARROW was also in the area. On June 27 a NORTHERN
PARULA was reported in Bend. The INDIGO BUNTING continues along Sawtell Road
I NW Polk County. On June 30 a male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was seen in the
same area.

Southbound migrant shorebirds, mainly WESTERN SANDPIPERS and GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, increased during the week. On June 30, 28 WHIMBRELS, five
MARBLED GODWITS, and three SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were at the Hammond Boat
Basin. Offshore migrations are now becoming conspicuous. On July 1 a number
of SOOTY SHEARWATERS were off Boiler Bay along with 35 HEERMANN?S GULLS and
southbound loons.

On June 28 a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was at Astoria. The flock of MUTE SWANS
continue at the Fernhill Wetlands. A BANK SWALLOW was at Fern Ridge
Reservoir June 30.
