While hiking out on the Boundary Trail that heads east of the Johnston Observatory ( I believe we were on the cliff known as the Devil's Elbow), Evan and I flushed up a lone adult male GRAY-CROWNED ROSY FINCH. ?Just prior to that, a little farther west along the trail , a single HORNED LARK was walking amongst the abundant blooming fireweed and sheep sorrel. ?Other than that I was surprised how few birds we could detect:
