This morning at about 9:00 am Joe Sweeney and I were viewing
RHINOCEROS AUKLETS near the Westpoint Lighthouse when a single small
shorebird flew around the point and landed nearby on the north beach.
My initial impression was SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER but unfortunately we
only got short glimpses before a jogger passed by flushing the bird.
Joe did have his camera along and got a few quick photos before the
bird flew. We were able to confirm the bird was a SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPER with some additonal help (thanks Dennis). Don't know if the
bird is still around as it may have just flown further east along the
north shore; although there are quite a few people using the beach
today.

Cheers and Good Birding;
