Hi all...

I had a great talk with Ivan Reiff, owner of
Western Prince Whale and Wildlife Tours out of
Friday Harbor this morning and we have worked out
the following details for a chase of the Horned
Puffin if there is a sufficient number of people
who commit:

The Boat would leave from their Friday Harbor dock
Thursday morning. Sailing would be around 10:30 I
believe, but in any event would be tied in to
arrival of the ferry from Anacortes that leaves at
9:05 a.m. Their dock is adjacent to the ferry
terminal so everyone could walk on to the ferry.

We would look for the Horned Puffin and also try
for the Parasitic Jaeger that they saw chasing
Bonapartes gulls yesterday. The HOPU has been
seen from the boat on several days in the mornings
but of course there is no guarantee. Just best
efforts. Probably back at the dock around 1:00-1:30.

We need at least 9-10 people to make this work,
but there is room on board for twice that many.

Cost would be $85.00 plus tax per person plus a
$1.00 dock fee. (If there are fewer than 10, the
price could go up to still make it doable)

Captain Reiff would need to know for sure not
later than tomorrow (Wednesday afternoon) to be
able to make this happen. I have been contacted
by 10+ people who have interest so I am optimistic
that a full group can be put together. Please
note that Tom Mansfield made an unsuccessful try
for the bird this morning but I do not believe it
was from this boat (any boat?).

If you want to go please contact the charter group
directly and sign on. Here is the contact

Please reference that this is the Horned Puffin
chase that Captain Reiff set up with me.

Look forward to seeing everyone there and hope it
is a go and a success.

Best
