Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday July 18. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

A KITTLITZ?S MURRELET was reported July 10 passing southward off Boiler Bay.
MARBLED MURRELETS are now being regularly seen just offshore as they
actively obtain food for their young still in the nest.

The fall shorebird migration is now conspicuous with BAIRD?S SANDPIPERS and
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS especially being reported during the week. Single
PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were at Fern Ridge Reservoir July 16 and along Fenk Road
near Tillamook July 12. A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was at the Fernhill Wetlands
July 16. An early MEW GULL was at Yaquina Bay July 17.

Single BLACK SWIFTS were seen during the week at Tumalo Falls west of Bend
and at Salt Creek Falls at Willamette Pass east of Eugene. Five were seen
along a ridge above Rockaway July 14.

A survey at Lake Abert last week-end found, 2,798 AVOCETS, 3,870 EARED
GREBES, and 50,430 WILSON?S and RED-NECKED PHALAROPES.

That?s it for this week.
