Very interesting major article regarding Oogly and The Hunt for Illegal (Bird) Egg Collectors is in the current issue of the New Yorker (July 22, 2013, p 52-61).


I had no idea this was going on. One "notorious egg collector has already served three prison sentences for illegal egg collecting charges".
Also, the museum at Tring has two million bird-egg specimens. That is serious Oology! That collection was the basis for the DDT studies on egg shell thickness and the decline of Peregrine Falcons and a Europe-wide ban on DDT.
