Hello, Tweeters
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is soliciting input on a potential Sandhill crane hunting season. ?The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has recommended a possible 60-day Sandhill crane season, with 775 permits available (3 cranes per permit). ?the Sandhill crane hunting zone would be restricted to the southeaster portion of the state. ?It seems possible that if this Sandhill crane hunting season is "successful," the area could be extended and other states would come under pressure by hunters to open similar Sandhill crane hunting seasons. ?There is an opportunity for those concerned to provide comment on this plan by email to: ?TWRA.Comment at tn.gov with the subject line, "Sandhill Crane" before August 10. ?The U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service will also have a 10-day public comment period once its recommendation is published to the Federal Register in late July.
There is also an opportunity to weigh in on a public survey on the proposed Sandhill crane hunting season by going to the following link: http://www.tennessean.com/interactive/article/20130707/PROMO/130708001/POLL-Do-you-think-Tennessee-Wildlife-Resources-Agency-should-allow-60-day-sandhill-crane-hunting season
