Yellow/Orange variant of the House Finch.
Please note that the top of the head is actually brown.?? Eliminates both Purple and Cassin's ..
I think I recall someone posting that the color variants are due to mineral/vitamin deficiencies, rather than genetics???

I have seen these variants fairly regularly in House Finches ...? Yellow to Orange ...
?
And that IS a good question.? Has anyone seen yellow variants of Purple or Cassin's Finches?

Looks like a finch.? My first guess would be a House Finch (yellow variant).? Are there yellow variant Cassin's Finches?

At the below flickr site (1at bird) is a poor image of a small, sparrow-like (and sized) bird I took last week at the Conboy Lakes NWR near Mt. Adams that I have not been able to ID. ?This is not a surprise since I tend to be?sparrow-like deficient. Thanks for any help.?
