Birds are banded in order be able to identify and learn where individual birds of specific species feed, drink, breed; rest, and eat, while migrating. The information taken when a bird is caught, and recaptured, allows scientific data to be used to prove that certain habitat, and/or a specific location is needed for the health/existence of species of birds. When done yearly at the same location, recaptures document productivity and suvivorship. This knowledge can then be used by decision makers, or by concerned citizens, to preserve a specific location of habitat.

Loss of habitat is the number one cause of death for birds!!!

Therefore, I am happy to announce that:

Puget Sound Bird Observatory is now accepting applications for the 2013 Fall Weekend Bird Bander Training

This 5-1/2 day training is offered over two weekends specifically to appeal to those who cannot take
significant time off from work to attend distant or weekday training. The training will be held at the
Northwest Stream Center in Everett, Washington. The training is held over 2 weekends: week one ? September
5th(7-9pm),6th-8th (all day), week Two ? September 14-15 (all day).
